Accused Rapist Kidnaps Girl, Sexually Assaults Her, Attempts To Burn Down A House, And Then Facebook’s His Own Death

Huff Post – A Michigan man accused of kidnapping and raping a college student posted on Facebook that he was “about to be shot, peace” seconds before police opened fire and killed him.

Eric Lee Ramsey, 30, allegedly forced a Central Michigan University student into her car at gunpoint at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The student said she didn’t know Ramsey, who forced her to drive her SUV to a residence where he bound her with tape and sexually assaulted her, Michigan Live reported.

Police say Ramsey forced the woman back in the SUV, along with two cans of gas, and began to drive, according to Mercury News. The woman says Ramsey told her he was going to kill her, at which point she leapt from the vehicle and ran to a nearby home, banging on the door for help. The residents let her inside, where she called 911 at about 10:05 p.m.

As the woman dialed for help, Ramsey appears to have sprayed the home with gasoline and lit it on fire, then left. The homeowners were able to put out the fire and no one was hurt.

Michigan state troopers located Ramsey behind the wheel of the SUV several hours later. Ramsey rammed the vehicle into a trooper’s car, injuring the driver. The trooper attempted to give chase, but the vehicle was too damaged to drive far.

Ramsey then abandoned the SUV in a field before stealing a sanitation truck, which he used to ram a sheriff’s deputy’s vehicle head-on, Isabella County Sheriff Leo Mioduszewski told the Morning Sun. The deputy then got of his car and opened fire into into the sanitation truck cab, killing Ramsey at the scene.

Prior to being killed, Ramsey posted “Well folkes im about to get shot [sic]. Peace” from his Facebook account.

Eric was way to interested in killing this girl. First he kidnaps her, then he rapes her, then he chases her to a residents house- attempts to burn down their house, and gets himself an a hot pursuit because of all this. However he wasn’t too busy during this sequence of events to check Facebook and post to all his friends, “I’m about to get shot. Peace.” What a play by Eric. He let every police officer know “yeah, I know Im about to die. Im cool with it. Let me first tell everyone though.”

This is what social media has done to us. We cant even commit crimes without having to check up and update everyone on our situation. And Im not without blame either. I just got done telling Sandra and the family how I cant remember the last time I drove anywhere without having my phone open. I know driving instructors tell you to focus and to pay attention to the road. That its not you, its the other drivers. But my attention span is about 3 seconds. I get in my car, start it up, check the radio, pull out of the driveway, and then get to Facebook, Twitter, or Tinder. I cant even get 200 feet down the road to the Stop sign, guys. Don’t even have to question whether I text and drive. That should be obvious. If Im Tinder-ing, Im texting. For sure, for sure.

So no, Im not surprised that he was Facebook-ing during his flee. Never know how fire a status can be. If you get a thought that needs to be posted, something that you know will draw numerous “likes” and comments then you need to upload that shit asap. Those are the rules. The police understood this. Thats why they waited until after he pushed send for them to unload fire.
